There is many reasons why powder coating is gaining popularity in the yachting industry in Mallorca and worldwide. Speaking to the specialist at Yachting needs. They have given a breakdown of why it worth it.
1.Durability and Protection.
Powder coating provides a durable and protective epoxy finish that can withstand harsh marine environments. Yachts are constantly exposed to saltwater, UV rays, and other corrosive elements. Powder coating offers a resilient barrier against corrosion, fading, and scratches.
2.Wide Range of Finishes.
Powder coating comes in a variety of colours and finishes, allowing yacht owners to customize the appearance of their vessels. This versatility is appealing in an industry where aesthetics play a significant role.
3.Environmental Considerations.
Powder coating is known for being an environmentally friendly option compared to traditional painting methods. It produces minimal volatile organic compounds (VOCs), reducing the environmental impact. As sustainability becomes a more critical consideration in various industries, including yachting, this aspect could contribute to the adoption of powder coating.
4. Efficiency in Application.
Powder coating is an efficient process. It involves applying a dry powder to the surface, which is then cured under heat. This method is faster than traditional painting, reducing downtime for yacht owners and allowing them to get back on the water sooner.
5. Compliance with Regulations.
There may be regulations and restrictions in place regarding the use of certain coatings and paints in the marine industry to protect marine ecosystems. Powder coating formulations that meet environmental standards could be preferred for compliance with these regulations.
6.Long-Term Cost Savings.
While the initial cost of powder coating might be higher than traditional painting, the long-term durability and reduced maintenance needs can result in cost savings over time. Yacht owners may see it as a worthwhile investment in the longevity and appearance of their vessels.
